Mark your calendars! There are lots of exciting events happening around Greece during the month of November. Here are some examples of what’s in store.
Art Thessaloniki – International Art Fair
November 3 – 6 | Thessaloniki
The 6th edition of the Art Thessaloniki Contemporary International Fair will take place in Thessaloniki at the TIF HELEXPO pavilions which are located near the sea promenade and multiple major landmarks. This event is ideal for casual art lovers, serious art collectors, and everyone in between. Museums and trade associations also get involved, which is the reason why the Art Thessaloniki organization presents itself as both a marketing platform and a cultural partner.
Amorgos International Film Festival
November 4 – 9 | Amorgos
The Amorgos International Film Festival is an annual four-day festival that has been happening on the island of Amorgos since 2010. Co-organized by the Amorgos Cultural Women Association and the Municipality of Amorgos, hundreds of new films are presented here every year. If you’re a film lover, this event is a great excuse to take a trip to Amorgos!
Athens Bar Show
November 8 – 9 | Athens
The Athens Bar Show is an annual educational event in Athens, Greece that is very helpful for bartenders and other bar professionals as well as anyone working in the hospitality industry. It’s a great way to showcase or learn new skills and network with other people in a similar field.
Athens Authentic Marathon
November 13 | Athens
The Athens Authentic Marathon is an epic annual race that has been happening since 1972. The finish line of the marathon is at the Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro. This event apparently covers the same route that the Athenian messenger Phiedippides ran when bringing victorious news from the battlefield of the Marathon a mere 2,500 years ago. The 10km and 5km races will take place simultaneously for anyone who prefers a shorter distance. There will also be a 1.2km that is specifically for children.
PHILOXENIA
November 18 – 20 | Thessaloniki
First organized in 1985, PHILOXENIA is an annual tourism exhibition focused on Greece. This event will start on November 8th at the International Exhibition & Conference Center of Thessaloniki and it will be attended by companies and organizations from all over the tourism industry. Expect to participate in presentations, worships, conferences, and much more.
Feast of Agia Aikaterini
November 25 | Paros
The feast of Agia Aikaterini is celebrated in the village of Lefkes, which is located on the Greek island of Paros. It’s done in order to commemorate the Greek Resistance against conquerors. The Divine Liturgy takes place at the church in the morning, followed by the procession of the icon throughout the streets of the village. As a visitor, this is the type of experience that will make you feel more connected to the local culture and like part of the community.
SwimRun
November 25 – 27 | Hydra
The SwimRun event will take place this month on the island of Hydra. Athletes will participate in pairs while traversing the span of the island while tied together. They will compete in off-road running and open-water swimming, alternating from one sport to the other. Hydra is located very close to Athens so getting to this beautiful destination by ferry won’t be an issue.
InnoDays 2022
November 25 – 27 | Heraklion, Crete
The Region of Crete has organized the Innodays event this month at the International Exhibition Center of Crete in Heraklion. There will be more than 100 exhibition stands focused on various topics like the ecosystem of Crete and innovative applications/products that could contribute to the island’s economy. There will also be 25 prestigious speakers presenting on digital transformation and the green transition, among other topics. There will also be parallel events happening at the same time, such as the Innovative Marathon (Hackathon).
