The Medieval Festival in Chios includes a visual performance that will bring renaissance memories to life with a unique combination of music, poetry, and spectacle. Acclaimed director and actor Antonis Loudaros will be at the helm and the artistic supervision comes from the important scenographer, costume designer, and painter Ioannis Metzikof. Notably, the 18 costumes that will be presented have all been previously exhibited in London at the National Gallery and the Covent Garden opera house.
The Alvio Conference celebrates the life and the scientific achievements of Alvio Renzini, who turned 82 this year. This brilliant Italian mind will be in Chania, Crete to discuss his career, which includes six decades of covering a great diversity of scientific topics, including stellar evolution, the Milky Way and nearby galaxies, elliptical galaxies, high-redshift star formation, and more The conference will also address outstanding problems, discuss current efforts and point to the most promising future directions.
Every year the Argo-Saronic island of Spetses pays tribute to the heroism of the its inhabitants. September marks the anniversary of the Naval Battle of Spetses, which took place on September 8, 1822, and is considered one of the landmarks of the Greek War of Independence. This is the largest celebration on the island, and it consists of historical reenactments, art exhibitions, musical and theatre performances, fireworks, and more.
As the only festival in Greece dedicated solely to the art of illustration, Illustradays is a very unique experience. Tons of artists will be presenting their work this month at the Serafion building in Athens, and some will give talks, while others will put on workshops throughout the event. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Beam of light’ and it’s free entry for all ages.
The 86th Thessaloniki International Fair focuses on regional development through the model of the circular economy. This year the event welcomes the United Arab Emirates as the honored country, giving the opportunity for Greece and the UAE to strengthen their historical ties, together with the incentive for further development of trade, investment, and cultural relations.
Since mid-August, the 13th edition of the Pistachio Festival of Aegina (also known as Aegina Fistiki Fest) has been ongoing. However, the pinnacle of the festival is the trade fair which happens from September 15 to the 18th. It stretches along the entire length of the beach in the main town of Aegina and hosts over fifty different exhibitors showcasing the island’s specialty. For children, there will be games and a climbing tower.
The Athens Comedy Festival returns this month for its fourth edition, which will be held at the Faliro Summer Theater. Over the course of three days, more than 40 hilarious comedians will be performing on one stage.
AnimaSyros is an International Animation Festival that was created by animator and artist Yiannis Koutsouris. It is the largest festival and animation market of its kind in Greece and one of the most important globally. It started in 2008 and it is annually held on the island of Syros, which is the capital of the Cyclades island group. This year’s festival will take place both physically and digitally, and the theme will be the Baltic region.

The Athens Coffee Festival is a celebration of coffee and its surrounding culture.
