WHERE ARE THE BEST BEACHES IN MALLORCA?

4 May 2021 • Simon Banks

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing soft, sandy beaches in Europe. But it’s safe to say that Spain, and Mallorca in particular, has some of the best around. The Balearic island is full of beauty everywhere you look. And if you’re searching for fine white sands to spend a few hours catching some rays before dipping your toes in crystal clear waters, we’ve got you covered. Get the towels out and apply some sunscreen in preparation for the best beaches in Mallorca.

Cala Mondrago

Cala Mondrago

Just outside of the south-eastern town of Santanyi is where you will find Cala Mondrago. This spot is set among the woods of a nature reserve and is free of the high-rise hotels and the hustle and bustle of the city. There’s a hammock rental service and a beach bar for good measure, but where Cala Mondrago excels is through its natural beauty. It’s a peaceful getaway during the week ( it can get busy on the weekend) and is somewhere you could spend ages relaxing on the soft sands.

Cala Agulla

Cala Agulla

Surrounded by pine trees and mountains, Cala Agulla is located in the municipality of Capdepera, which is around 80 kilometres from Palma. Make a splash in the crystal clear waters or take part in some water sports. Then relax on the white sands, which are perfect for soaking up some sun.

Cala Formentor

Cala Formentor

Cala Formentor is a picture-perfect beach with lots of pretty boats hanging around. The beach is located in Northern Mallorca and has warm waters and a peaceful vibe. Once you’ve finished at the Cala Formentor, take a drive up to the Cap de Pera Lighthouse to watch the sunset in style.

Cala Torta

Cala Torta

If you’re looking for an unspoilt beach that’s a hit with the locals, then get yourself down to Cala Torta. It’s located in the northeast corner – one of the quieter areas of the island – and is best visited on a calm day when the winds are low. A trip here is all about sparkling blue waters and some seriously soft sands.

Playa de Camp de Mar

Playa de Camp de Mar

It’s all about the luxury at Playa de Camp de Mar, which is surrounded by upmarket hotels and stylish holiday homes. The beach is as you would expect from an upscale area and looks polished with its fine sands and calm waters. The picturesque views along the rocky coastline only add to the allure, and there’s even a quaint footbridge connecting to La Illeta, a restaurant set on a tiny islet nearby the beach.

Platja de Alcudia

Platja de Alcudia

Stretching for three kilometres, the beach at Platja de Alcudia is well-maintained and features waters perfect for the entire family. The white sands are great for lazing on or making a sandcastle, and there’s even a playground for the kids to enjoy. You can also hire kayaks and pedalos, ensuring that it will be a fun family day out for all at Platja de Alcudia.
