How does the Digital Disability Card impact ferry travel?

The Digital Disability Card simplifies ferry travel for people with disabilities (PWD) by granting special discounts and privileges. By presenting this card, passengers can verify their disability rate and qualify for discounted ferry tickets.

Types of Greek Digital Disability Cards for Ferry Travel

  • Printable Document: A physical copy similar to vaccination certificates, displaying the disability scale with specific symbols.
  • Digital Form (Gov.gr Wallet): A mobile version accessible via the Gov.gr Wallet app, providing instant access.
  • Plastic Digital Card: A future option, not yet available.

Understanding the Disability Symbols

The Digital Disability Card does not contain sensitive personal data but indicates the disability rate and whether a companion is required. The disability scales are:
  • I (50%-66%)
  • II (67%-79%)
  • III (80% or more) (Eligible for ferry discounts)

Companion Benefits

If the card displays an S symbol, it means the holder requires a companion, who is also entitled to the same ticket discounts. This applies to passengers with a III symbol who need an escort for ferry travel. The Digital Disability Card ensures greater accessibility, discounts, and convenience for ferry travelers with disabilities. For more details, visit the Gov.gr app or contact our customer support via live chat, Facebook, Instagram, or email at info@ferryscanner.com.

I Entered the Wrong License Plate – Can I Change It?

Ferry companies must report all vehicles on board to local port authorities, so providing the correct license plate number when booking is essential. If you entered it incorrectly, here’s what you need to know:
  • For domestic routes: If the vehicle type remains the same, you can typically board without issues. Simply notify the local port authorities at the port about the correct license plate.
  • For Zante Ferries: You must contact us to update the license plate before boarding.
  • For Seajets and some other ferry companies: License plate changes may require canceling and rebooking the ticket, depending on availability and the company’s cancellation policy.
  • For international routes: Updating incorrect license plate information is mandatory. Failure to do so may result in denied boarding.
This policy also applies to name corrections if the name is completely incorrect. If you need to update your details, please contact us as soon as possible to ensure a smooth travel experience.

I lost my tickets – What should I do?

If you have already collected your physical ticket and then lose it, you cannot board the ferry using only your reservation or ticket number—the physical ticket is mandatory for boarding. In this situation, we recommend contacting our Customer Success Team for assistance. You will need to purchase a new ticket and formally declare the loss in writing. If the lost ticket remains unused for a specific period after your travel date, the ferry company may issue a replacement ticket of equivalent value. Please note that losing your ticket is not the same as canceling it. In the case of a lost ticket, no refund will be provided.
